The Len\u00e7\u00f3is Maranhenses<\/strong> They are one of the most extraordinary landscapes in the world: thousands of white sand dunes, in whose valleys turquoise freshwater lagoons form during the rainy season (January-June). The result looks like Photoshop \u2013 but it isn't. From the air (scenic flight: ~\u20ac60), the pattern of white sand and blue water is breathtaking.<\/p>\n\n

Base: Barreirinhas<\/strong> or Santo Amaro<\/strong>. Jeep tours into the dunes cost \u20ac20-40 and include swimming stops in the lagoons.<\/p>\n\n

Jericoacoara<\/strong> (\u201eJeri\u201c) is the most relaxed place I found in Brazil: sandy streets (no asphalt in the whole village), perfect kitesurfing conditions, and sunsets from the \u201eDune du P\u00f4r do Sol\u201c that are so spectacular that hundreds of people gather on the dune every evening.<\/p>\n\n

Jeri is a top spot for Kitesurfing<\/strong>Consistent winds (June-December), shallow lagoons, and a vibrant international kiteboarding community. Kitesurfing lessons from \u20ac50\/day.<\/p>\n\n
