The best activities while Sailing
As exciting as sailing can be at times β it can quickly become boring if the wind and weather aren't right. β΅ It doesn't necessarily have to be a calm β even with too much wind and waves, one often prefers to stay in the marina or in the sheltered anchorage and enjoy their free time. However, if there's once again a long period with no good wind, or if it's coming from the wrong direction, it can quickly become boring on a boat. That's why today I will introduce you to my top 5 activities while sailing, which will make every day in the bay or marina truly special! Ready? Then let's dive right into my favorite activity!
1. E-foiling with the SiFly Stellar S πββοΈ
Β
Have you ever wondered what it feels like to fly? In recent weeks, I've discovered a new sport that comes as close to flying as possible!
E-foiling has become my favorite activity during my sailing adventures. I'm particularly enamored with the SiFly Stellar S. With its innovative technology and elegant design, it's the ultimate toy for water sports enthusiasts. The gentle lift, the rush of speed β the feeling is simply breathtaking. Plus, it's super easy to learn, and after just an hour, I was able to fly over the water at nearly 1 meter high on the foil! I can only advise you: Try it out! π
Furthermore, I recommend trying it not only standing up but also sitting or even lying down β this way, you can extend your arms and it feels even more like flying! For more information and to get your own efoil, click here.

2. Exploring local attractions π
When the sails are still, it's time to embark on a new adventure on four wheels or by public transportation. The surroundings are just waiting to be explored by you. So, grab a rental car or use public transportation and let yourself be enchanted by the local history and culture.
Personally, I love to explore the nearest cities or villages when I'm anchored somewhere for an extended period. In this case, it's especially worth it to drive further inland with a rental car since you've already seen enough of the coast while sailing. π
3. Kitesurfing π¨
For the days when the wind is simply too strong for sailing, kitesurfing is an excellent option, which I've also been enthusiastically doing for years. It strikes the perfect balance between relaxed gliding and action, making it a fantastic way to enjoy the day. However, if you've never tried it before, I recommend taking a lesson or, ideally, a whole week of lessons to learn it safely, as it can be quite dangerous, especially in high winds. Plus, the frustration factor is much lower when you have a teacher by your side! π
3. Relaxing at the beach ποΈ
After several challenging days of sailing, there's nothing better than letting your soul unwind and relax. And what better way to do that than a day at the beach? Especially along the European coast, there are countless dreamy beaches β my favorite being the Portuguese Algarve! From the hidden cove of Praia da Marinha to the popular Praia de Benagil, here you can peacefully enjoy doing nothing and gather new energy for the next sailing trip! βΊοΈ
5. Nature activities πΏ
When you need a break from the water, grab a pair of sturdy shoes or rent a bicycle and explore the beautiful nature on land. The possibilities are endless and offer something for everyone. Plus, after a day on land, you'll be even more excited to return to life on the water. β΅οΈ
I hope that among my 5 favorite activities while sailing, there's something for you too, and that you can enjoy every minute of your sailing trip to the fullest! πππΌ
